Description:
Plants can offer us so much. In folk medicine, the use of medicinal plant allies is deeply rooted in tradition and intention. Understanding herbs is a lifelong learning experience that can often lead to a healthy and beautiful relationship with the natural world.
If you are interested in exploring herbalism for your own wellbeing and connection to land and place, this might be the perfect first step.
GOS is happy to offer the first of our Plant Medicine Series. In this introductory workshop, we invite you to bring your curiosity as we discuss properties and energetics of herbs and some different ways we can prepare plants for medicinal use. Together we will make an Elderberry Syrup.
Please note: this is not a foraging workshop. We will be building our knowledge of herbal properties and preparations before we remove plants from the landscape.
This workshop will be led by Ciana and Danielle.
Ciana started her herbalist journey not too long ago, but plants and the natural world have always fascinated her. Ciana’s work draws from intuition, ancestral knowledge, and Western Herbalism. She provides remedies for her family, friends, and community — it is her hope to have more folks see the magic plants can provide.
Danielle is a community herbalist, medicine-maker and herb grower who has been studying and working with plants for the past eight years. Her work explores how plant medicine can help remediate our relationships with our bodies, the land and each other, with a focus on healing justice and plant ecology. She is currently completing clinical herbalism training at the Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine.
