Our onboarding program provides a strong foundation by helping new hires understand our product, mission, and values, as well as how their role contributes to our collective success. Beyond essential tools and training, we prioritize social integration through initiatives like our Buddy Program, fostering a sense of belonging from the start. 

A Warm Welcome on Day One

The first day in a new role can feel overwhelming, so we focus on making it as welcoming and engaging as possible. From the moment employees arrive, we set the tone for success with thoughtful touches that help them feel valued and confident.

Employees are greeted with a personalized workspace, complete with all the tools and resources they need to hit the ground running. A coffee chat with their manager fosters open communication, followed by a team lunch to begin building connections. We also love to surprise employees with a welcome bag filled with carefully chosen goodies, adding a little extra warmth to their first day.

Getting to Know Amilia

Onboarding at Amilia goes beyond just processes - it’s about helping new employees feel connected to our goal of empowering communities through technology.

Structured sessions led by the Talent and Culture team provide a deeper understanding of our core values, what their journey with us will look like, and how each role contributes to Amilia’s success. Employees also participate in live product training sessions, led by a dedicated expert, where they explore the SmartRec platform in real-time. These interactive sessions create a space to ask questions, understand the platform’s real-world applications, and see how their work empowers communities.

At the two-month mark, employees are invited to join Coffee with our CEO, Hugo Lachance. This informal gathering is a chance to sit down, ask questions, and have meaningful conversations about the company’s vision and direction.  

Creating Meaningful Connections

We believe meaningful connections are the heart of a great onboarding experience. That’s why we pair each new hire with a seasoned team member who provides advice, support, and a window into Amilia’s culture. Samuel, a software developer, shares:

Beyond one-on-one support, we also help new hires connect with the broader team and get a true feel for our culture through Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions. Hosted in a dedicated channel, these informal Q&As offer a fun and welcoming space where employees can ask lighthearted questions. It’s a great way for newcomers to share a bit about themselves, spark conversations across teams, and quickly feel a sense of belonging at Amilia. More than just a support system, these initiatives foster camaraderie and build relationships that extend well beyond onboarding.
